Prahran Protea

King Proteas

Recently on a trip to the Prahran Markets in Melbourne,
I spotted the flower which I call
 my 'go to bloom'

.............  the King Protea
the South African native
and a cousin to Australia's beloved Banksia,
it's spectacular size, colour and structure,
is always a lovely and unexpected floral option for any interior.

  1. Gorgeous images of a gorgeous flower. So sculptural! (Although I do have to confess I think I like the banksia a tad even more.)

    1. Yes V, I think i'd have to agree with you about the Banksia! They always conjure up memories of those beautiful Margaret Preston paintings from the 1920's and '30's.
