Saturated Blue Interior!

This image of a wonderful saturated blue interior was found in a vintage design book in my possession.

"The House and Garden's Complete Guide to Interior Decoration 1970".  The credited designer is Ronald Ferri.

Well I just have to say Ronald,  that I so admire the bravery of you and many of the decorators from this period.  I just love the unabashed use of this incredible blue, and the fact that the old parquetry has been given a truly POP rework by slapping on the white paint.  This provides a wonderful contrast to the "YVES KLEIN Blue" style walls.
The splash of primary red and the faux zebra rug which is actually painted onto the floor with a red outline, is genius!

  1. Thanks for posting this amazing vintage room. I absolutely love the way the faux zebra rug has been painted onto the floor. I want to paint every wooden floor I see white and paint the walls a primary colour.

  2. Hey J, love all the red white and blue and the African references. But what I really want to know is what the foetus/moonlike like shaped object on the blue shelf below the faux Van Gogh painting is.

    Please do tell...

  4. It would have to be a "Blue Lagoon" of course, which contains Blue Curacao, Vodka topped up with lemonade! How refreshing!!!

  5. Hi Dave
Yes that funny little" foetus/moonlike shaped" object is indeed very interesting. It does indeed look very "in utero", with the head like shape bowing down.

It's otherwise known as an "ornament knick knack thingy"! I hope that clears things up for you Dave!
